Our story

Skincare we can trace, from plant to bottle

We make gentle, fragrance-free skincare from wild plants on the Isle of Skye. Here’s how we started, and the one rule that decides what goes into every bottle.

How it started

A kitchen, a pan of nettles and borrowed scales

Veyleaf started in a kitchen in Portree, with a pan of nettle tops and a borrowed set of lab scales. The first batch separated in a week. The second one didn’t.

Our rule is simple. For every plant we use, we write down where it grew, when it was picked, who picked it and what it does for your skin. If we can’t answer all four, the plant doesn’t go in the bottle.

That rule makes us slow. We sell seven products because we have seven plants we can fully vouch for. We pick with permission, never take more than a third of any patch, and go back the next year to check it grew back. If it hasn’t, we pause that product.

No miracle claims, no fragrance, no fillers: just plants, water, a few well-researched actives, and every percentage on the label.

What we stand for

Plants we can trace

For every plant we write down where it grew, when it was picked, who picked it and what it does for your skin. If we can’t answer all four, it doesn’t go in.

Nothing that irritates

No fragrance, essential oils, drying alcohol, silicones or sulphates. Everything is dermatologist tested on sensitive skin.

Every percentage listed

Around 14 ingredients per product, and each product page shows exactly how much of each one is in the bottle.
